The results are in! A new study conducted by the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI) shows that, compared to traditional physical therapy following total knee replacement (TKR) surgery, our Virtual Exercise Rehabilitation Assistant (VERA™) virtual PT platform offers huge cost savings for post-acute providers.
Formally known as “Virtual Exercise Rehabilitation In-home Therapy: A Research Study (VERITAS),” the study was the first large-scale randomized controlled clinical trial comparing virtual physical therapy with the traditional model of care.
Designed to evaluate the cost and clinical non-inferiority of using a virtual rehabilitation platform to deliver PT rehab following TKR surgery, the VERITAS study found that VERA, when used with clinical oversight, is as safe and effective as traditional PT, while also offering a cost savings of $2,745 per patient when utilized as part of the bundled payments model.
Now, a new video offers a point-by-point breakdown of these findings, detailing how VERA achieved these amazing cost savings by reducing:
Total readmissions by 60%
Total outpatient PT visits by 86%
Total home health visits by 95%
Total urgent care or ER visits by 30%
Total skilled nursing facility stays by 60%
