Employee Spotlight: Danny R.
Danny Rohrlick is a software engineer at Reflexion Health. A member of the Unity team, Danny has agreed to share with us about his job, his hobbies, and why he loves working at Reflexion Health. Let’s hear what the self-proclaimed “Desert Kid” from Ridgecrest has to say.
When did you first join Reflexion Health, and why?
I joined Reflexion Health two years ago because I was drawn to the unique combination of healthcare and gaming technology.
What do you do at Reflexion Health?
I work on the Unity Team. We work with showing off the VERA platform — the game engine end of it — and the Kinect platform, which is the joint tracking portion of the program.
What makes this such a unique place to work?
My previous job involved creating educational video games, where you’re trying help people learn in a fun and engaging way. I think it’s unique that Reflexion Health is using technology to “gamify” (to use the industry term) recovery in the healthcare sector. It’s what I’m drawn to — making something educational and fun.
What’s your favorite part about working in downtown San Diego?
I never thought about working downtown, so even being here is awesome! Definitely all of the food choices and the ability to do things after work. Whether it’s happy hour at Balboa Bar or just walking around downtown — there’s so much fun stuff to do.
Tell us one fun fact about yourself!
I’m in a band! We’re trying to make an EP and get into the Del Mar Fest, so we’ve been really busy jamming! Usually when I’m not working, I’m trying to write songs or get a setlist together.
