What can the latest innovations in virtual technology offer the home health industry? As our Chief Clinical Officer Anang Chokshi (PT/DPT/OCS/SCS) explains in a recent video webinar from the Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts, the answer is quite a bit.
Virtual rehabilitation technology like Reflexion Health’s Virtual Exercise Rehabilitation Assistant (VERA®) can help offset some of the more pressing challenges currently facing the home health industry, says Anang, including geographical limitations, tier-based revenues, and labor shortages. It can also:
- Help manage costs of post-surgery recovery while enhancing patient satisfaction
- Provide increased insight into patient recovery with fewer in-person visits
- Drive alignment to at-risk reimbursement models
- Create patient accountability to increase adherence and achieve the desired outcome
“Physical therapy is extremely important,” Anang explains in the video. “And if we all believe that the patients will do more to help themselves, or be more proactive in their care when we’re not with them, it can help drive potentially better outcomes. So that’s where technology can help in increasing accountability and improving adherence.”
And by doing this, virtual PT can also “help manage the costs of recovery,” he adds, referencing recent studies that have shown that “not only are we able to achieve high patient satisfaction, and quality outcomes equivalent to traditional care, but we’re able to do this with better labor efficiency and better cost savings.”
